Although there is much valuable information in this book, it contains far too many errors to be used as a reference. The sad fact is that Mr. Frank has access to all of this information. With any extensive compilation of this kind, the occasional error is bound to creep in, but it appears that this volume escaped even a rudimentary review. For now, the Robert Marsh book remains the most reliable reference for performance dates and repertory.
Of course I may still have some errors in the following list. If you believe something is incorrect, please let me know.
Page 45. The 2nd movement of the Beethoven Quartet is marked Vivace, not Scherzo.
Page 49. Wagner Parsifal Good Friday Spell not listed for 12 Nov. 1938.
Page 52. RCA, Guild, and Naxos CDs all say Beethoven Violin Concerto recorded on 11 of March instead of 10. Still, they all could be in error.
Page 54. 23 October 1938 should be 28.
MF thinks Parsifal 1940 synthesis dull, a personal opinion I disagree with.
